Reloaded
Representing Orange County,
California, and originally from Chicago,Illinois,The Renegadez
have been producing and writing since 1997.
The Renegadez consist of Ricky Parham II a.k.a. Rikanatti and
Ramone Johnson a.k.a. Young Cashis. They began seriously
working on their craft in 1999 after taking a 1 year break
from music due to legal problems. During that same year, The
Renegadez took another devastating blow, the shooting death of
the third original member, Monique Johnson. Who was also the
wife of Ramone a.k.a.Young Cashis of The Renegadez.
In the year 2000, they began working on their first
underground release titled Renegeddon. Which was a local
success. Upon completion of recording the "Renegeddon"
project,
Young Cashis became incarcerated for various robberies and
probation violations. The album received street love, but The
Renegadez had to cancel most of their early performances due
the untimely incarceration of Ramone.
The Renegadez eventually posted the $65,000 bail and Ramone
was released and the group was able to begin performing again.
Unfortunately, doing the beginning stages of recording "Watch
Closely" Ramone was sentenced. Rikanatti began designing the
sound for the Renegadez and perfecting his craft during the
time when his comrade was sentenced. Through numerous visits
and phone conversations, the concept of Watch Closely was
conceived. Thus, bringing forth the Renegade sound.
During the incarceration Ramone, Rikanatti became Orange
County's most sought after producer. The streets were just
waiting for Ramone to be released. He was hailed as the rap
king of Orange County. After Ramone's release, the super group
began feverishly recording "Watch Closely" at various studios,
including the legendary "Hott Tracks" studio of Santa Ana,Ca.
The album was completed in February of 2003. But was
bootlegged all over the West Coast. Rikanatti was quoted as
saying " you can bootleg all you want, that just proves we
have the hottest album on the streets right now". So, The
Renegadez began recording a new version of Watch Closely,
which was recorded in 7 days. Upon the release of the new
version of "Watch Closely" the album sold 600 copies, hand to
hand the first week. Ramone was quoted as saying " The streets
love me. I'm always safe in any hood I go to. When the streets
raise you. She also feeds you. That's why our album is doing
so well. We represent for everyone , whether they are broke or
ballin. And we're real". The album has sold 4,000 copies the
first month. With no promotion.
The Renegadez are featured on various mix tapes, including The
West Coast King of Mixtapes, DJ Vlad's "Hot in Here Volume 3".
Their street anthem "O.C. Kingz" has debuted on the critically
acclaimed "Wake Up Show" on radio station Power 106. The song
displays Rikanatti's trademark change up style of production.
And Ramone's ever controversial lyrics. Including a classic
line some say is aimed at rap superstar 50 Cent. When
questioned about the line Ramone is quoted as saying "Man, I
don't even know dude, so why would I diss him. It ain't
nothing personal, but if anybody wants to take it that way, so
be it. We have the talent to take out whoever. And my name is
Cashis for a reason. A nice knuckle game". Rikanatti adds" Me
and my boy are not bullies, and we are not looking for drama,
we only want to make timeless music, and open the lane for the
new generation of West Coast hip-hop".
In the minds of the rap fans in Orange County California. The
Renegadez have created a classic. They are now heralded as the
O.C. Kingz. And from the way the streets are claiming this
album. They do not seem to be relinquishing that title. So,
the world should watch closely, because The Renegadez are here
to conquer.
